I gotta say also, honestly, made me think there is way too much moaning on here about things.
I thought it was bloody brilliant. The service was great on both legs, LHR to SIN and SIN to SYD. Really attentive.
Also on both legs I had the CCM come up to me while seated welcome me on board and talk for a few minutes to me. Is this normal? in fact the first leg he said that he realised it was my first F experience.
The only areas where I felt things could be improved significantly and that bothered me were...
1. The bed needs to be wider really. It was ok, but could really do with more width. Big people must struggle. This was the one area that actually bothered me.
2. Everything was such good quality yet the toilet role in the First toilets on board was like that tracing paper sh*t from school. Surely they could offer something a bit better than that. Seems ridiculously bad quality. Hardly 5 star. Ok it's only a silly thing but sort it out, i want aloe vera on my arse not tracing paper if i'm paying 5k a flight! haha
apart from that, the service was great, loved the Concorde lounge and my cabana and the food and drink in there.
Food on board was 80% really nice. One of my main's was ok not great, pork with rise and broccoli. I think people forget it is an airplane sometimes.
What i really loved the most was the ambience and design of the suite itself on board. Really relaxing and calming and just nicely designed. Pure class unlike emirates which to me is tacky. This is understated British Elegance at its best. Flying the flag and i don't think you get this on other airlines.
I think the point that you were happy and you also get a boost from flying the flag and British elegance is terrific. I like BA F -- it's not the best seat, it's not the best food, it's not the best lounges, cabin crew can range from fair to excellent. The ambiance of the cabin is very nice and it's a pleasant way to fly.
If you have a chance to sample other airline's F -- LH, LX, AF, TG, CX, SQ, JL, NH, EY, EK, KE, OZ -- it will be interesting to hear your viewpoint. I think there was a point 25 years ago that for folks who flew in a variety of F cabins -- back then RG had a good product as did DL, AA, UA, SA, QF, SN as well as SQ, CX, TG, JL, NH, AY -- most people would put BA in the top 3 or 4. I'm not sure if that would still be the case today.
