Okay, there are exceptions and simple itineraries. But it is virtually impossible to travel from a small hometown airport in the Midwest to anywhere on AA without connecting via ORD or DFW. I would not want a child to be negotiating those hub airports on his or her own.

I agree nonstop flights only for a unaccompanied minor under 16 years of age, otherwise someone should travel with the child.
