We go out for a short walk to pickup something from nearby convenience stores & they are done doing the daily cleaning or refreshing it for the evening, etc. I don't believe they will "report" on your rooms to the front desk or billings - and, obviously - don't call down for a rollaway bed or other extras that might be flagged.
A bigger challenge is whether the standard room can comfortably sleep 3 - is the 3rd. person sharing a twin/double bed. Upgraded rooms with extra space and oversized bed, etc. would be fine with most, if not all upscale brands - but if you are staying at an upscale boutique hotel with its "high" efficiency layout, you could be very tight for elbow rooms and touching 3 out of 4 walls easily. Being from SIN, assumed that you know that already.
Right, I totally got what you meant.
I was trying to book a room in Langham Place which stated the room's max occupancy to be 3 but when I put in 3 people instead of 2 (under the same room type), the tax was like 500 dollars difference (could it be because I'm trying to book the room via hotels.com? I have a lot of free nights to use but needed to pay for the price difference per night and total tax).
