Not sure of the rules (since I don't work for Delta) but say you have 9 people on a particular waitlist with 0 OP. Now, lets say I am #7 on the list and EF tells me that there is now OP = 1 and I call the DM line to get my upgrade processed. Did I just effectively queue jump? In other words, the 6 people ahead of me, did they have a right to that upgrade before me?
It's a pretty big stretch to relate this to EF visibility. If this were indeed the problem, they could just fix the waitlist processing and then only allow CSRs to either run the full waitlist or not run anything at all. Even without EF visibility, I can call every day and ask "did OP open up?"
As a side note, I doubt there'd be that many people on a waitlist under most circumstances. Most people don't even know that this stuff exists at all.
