I don't think that's a particularly fair or accurate statement - not only for the BVI - but for other places in that part of the world as well. Unless you're just saying "there are no luxury properties of note". Which I can't argue with. Because I've never stayed in a luxury property (or any property that I expected to be a luxury property) in that part of the world - unless the old/defunct Playboy Club/Hotel in Jamaica was a luxury property <LOL>.

OTOH - there's some pretty great stuff to do/see there - ranging from the above-mentioned sailing in the BVI to diving/snorkeling in the Caymans (and many other places) to eco-tourism in Jamaica (although that word didn't exist when I went there) - to fishing in the Bahamas. Especially Bimini. We used to stay at the Compleat Angler in Bimini:

No one would ever confuse it with a luxury property .

I don't know why Kage wants to go to the BVI. But - if his plans are somewhat open-ended - I might suggest a property that doesn't purport to be a luxury property - which would probably save a bunch of money - and using the rest of his budget to "go sailing". IMO - this part of the world is pretty much about the water - the sea. Being on it - or in it - or taking stuff out of it. Getting too much sun - being a little punchy and very tired when your feet hit dry land. Going out at night for some (sometimes hard) drinking and "island style" food - and then hitting the sack.
