I feel your pain and annoyance. Although I have an international plan, my family members have to play the guessing game on whether to retreive VM, though usually the callerID provides a clue. As this is data it should be something you could retreive via wifi but of course that would deprive AT&T of revenue.

This is what we used to do, and it works very well as the incoming # will still ring on your phone if you designate it as the receiving #.

Extrememly bad idea, I would not want to tip random callers as to my whereabouts.
