More seriously, are you confusing this issue with the question of whether BA will through-check bags onto a journey covered by a separate ticket on another oneworld airline (on which there is a policy)?

Now that I've posted what you wanted to hear/read, I have to point out that I believe it to be untrue.
I never expected to get a better allowance as you quite rightly say, it's an independent ticket.
I was just sure I'd read something to the contrary so I wanted to double-check in case there was some sort of grace or hidden feature I wasn't aware of.
