Yangon International Airport was closed to major international flights due to the Indian Airliner, an A-320 en route from Calcutta to Rangon, landing with a "thud" and then skidding off the runway into very deep mud, but all 92 aboard escaped serious injury. The plane sustained damage to its undercarriage.

Pax complained of shoddy treatment after they evacuated via emergency chutes into the mud and stormy weather.
