Not so much. I flew both R/T ORD-PVG (747s) and R/T LAX-SYD (777s) in GF in the past month, and all seats, each flight, were paid pax (mostly GS and 1Ks on paid biz fares with upgrades). And each of the flights had a waitlist of 2-4 revenue pax who did not get the upgrade. Even the FAMs were in biz as far as I could tell (I look for who's neither drinking nor sleeping).
