If you are willing to brave a little traffic, you can save a lot of money flying into PVD. I've found that tickets into there are much cheaper than Logan.
PVD is not much different lately when compared to BOS on connections to MSP. However, I do this sometimes and in fact am going PVD-ATL-SNA today as it was significantly cheaper this week. I did see that there are definitely fares in the $600 range from MHT thru LGA which is another option I will consider if BOS-MSP stays over $1,000. Traffic to MHT is also a big factor.
And yes to the other post above asking I have gone BOS-LGA-MSP at least once in the last few years when the fare was much better but mostly I have been on the non-stops.
