I too agree with most points of the OP.
Would add in favour of EZY:
- ability to book front row with legroom (for which on BA you need Gold status and is not that much more legroom - EZY has no bulkhead in 1A-C)
And in favour of BA
- better treatment when things go wrong
- a better feel in terms of crowd at LHR than LGW/LTN or (the worst) STN.
EZY has done very well at capitalising on its image as an LCC yet charging prices that are normally close to or higher than BA (not to mention the cost if reaching airports further away, in my case). As a result they are doing fine for their shareholders.
BA has done very well at capitalising on its image of classier and better. However as most on here will agree they are a big let-down in short haul, and am not sure they will still be able to capitalise on this image in 10 years from now.
If EZY ever operated from LHR (not much chance methinks) they would for sure get my custom.
