Thank you. I suspected this would be the case that the selection would either not stick or I would be faced with a surcharge.

Since I am paying extra (about $220) to be able to select seats and earn Alaska Air miles, primarily though to earn seats since I'm not sure the 8,000 Alaska Miles that only earn at a 50% rate on my fare are worth that, I hope to not have surprises about the seats...
