On a different subject. I posted a question in the Italy Forum regarding the safety of walking from the Florence train station to our hotel. I'd appreciate if y'all might take a look at it.
We are really looking forward to this trip. My wife will get to visit the towns in Sicily that her grandparents came from as well a
Thanks to all of you for the advice and guidance. I know it's saved us a lot of inconvenience.
Honestly, lounges are overrated. They are nice for a clean bathroom, a light snack, a drink, and to beat the crowds. But they only really excel at 1 and 4. It's not the 90's anymore and departure terminals have good food and drink options. I still visit lounges most times I go to the airport, but it's usually just for a clean place to change a diaper, since most of my travel is with my family.
About the only time I really make it a point to go to the lounge no matter what is at a new airport, just to see. On an international trip, I'll probably hit the lounge too, but only if I know in advance that it's decent. I like the AF lounges at CDG, for instance, but will probably never go at FCO or FLR.
It's worse if you're European coming to the US. If you think our lounges are disappointing, just go ahead and avoid our domestic offerings.
