I'm BA Silver, avios collector and redeemer. Flown hundreds of times with BA for business and leisure. 2 times with easyjet to AYT and return for holiday on an A321. I have thought carefully before posting but do think the comparison is interesting.... all views are my own and simply opinion and observation but I hope you find it interesting (*gulp*)
In my opinion easyjet was better than BA ET in the following parameters..
1. Priority boarding strictly enforced
2. Totally cheerful engaging, loud cabin crew " Weeelll Heeeelllo, lovely lady. Dont worry about the smoke, its just the aircon to keep you all cool!"
3. " Here you are, let me help you put your bag up top"
4. Because the carry on limits are stricter, there was no stress or hassle getting over head space. It was 25% empty on a full flight.
5. Easyjet unform grey and orange looks really smart and new.
6. Seat and tray and all the little nooks and crannies were clean. Felt clean to touch. Much, much cleaner than BA Im afraid.
7. Easyjet seats dont recline. Now doesnt that make sense on a SH flight?
8. I could get access to (buy) food to the volume which matched my hunger
9. I had a choice of food
10. I could have more than one drink without begging or being made to feel guilty or like a blagger (which we know does happen sometimes). I simply paid for it.
11. The toilets were cleaner on Easyjet and because there is no CE they were all more accessible so queues seemed smaller.
In my opinion BA ET is better than Easyjet on the following....
1. Passengers are more experienced and therefore there is less faffing.
2. I get TP and Avios.
3. I know the emergency procedures thoroughly.
4. BA is mostly cheaper, I think. Our flights to AYT were £580 each including luggage, and we probably pushed it to £600 including food and drinks. That really seems a lot.
5. Much less likely to have to use Gatwick with BA.
6. I have never had to refuse to give my aisle seat to the guy in the window seat not once but 4 times! No, as I already said, sir, it really isnt a better seat for me.
7. travelling alone I can access the lounge via silver though not with family in ET. We paid for the No 1 traveller lounge in gatqick which added £65,
Overall I would stick with BA because of collecting Avios, and course from a destination/business perspective but I did think credit where it is due to Easyjet because the overall experience was nowhere near the ordeal we were prepared for.
YMMV.
