Honestly, I think that's a big part of the problem with the merger, namely that CO management drank its own Cool Aid and was armed with an unshakeable conviction its own innate superiority that not only bordered on arrogance but has proved to be a terrible weakness in a time when an open mind and point of view would help them compete in today's airline marketplace much more effectively.
I just remember my last CO flight during the Gordon days -- EWR to LAX on a 73G in 2005 before college. It was after that misery of experiencing long EWR delays (like almost 2 hours on a taxiway), being served pizza bites for dinner, two prong headsets, not being able to recline a laptop up to do work, and the ridiculously long lines for the rear lavs.

I had it. Especially after flying them in the '90s and it was always a problem flying them, mainly massive delays. I stuck with AA for a while and then to DL, never back to CO when going to school out on the west coast.
