Sure. Here is my post from that disastrous stay:
MO LV. 'Openly hostile' would very much describe my treatment when checking in and during that stay. No upgrade whatsoever and perhaps a downgrade. Poor, hamster-sized rooms...more a bathroom with a bed jammed into the corner as an afterthought. Spectacular view of Monte Carlo roof. Can't order and eat food in the bar. (We forced the waitress to deliver us room service to the bar). Treated like dirt at the pool. Spa credit useless. MO LV did virtually everything possible to tell me they didn't want my business. I got the message.
To be fair, I've been treated equally poorly at nearly all MOs worldwide so I've learned to avoid the chain. The only decent stay I've had was MO Munich. I remember a nice view of the parking structure next door and a very competent concierge.
MO Barcelona has gerbil rooms, but that term doesn't adequately describe how small those rooms are. Upgrades are impossible since there are only a few, shockingly expensive, suites. Views from the balconies are into the apartment complexes next door. Noisy. Won't return.
MO SF got me an upgrade, which turned out to be worse than nothing. They promptly threw me out of this upgraded room, disallowing a pre-agreed upon 1pm checkout. I had to rent another room for my business meeting at the added cost of $300. No bar. No lobby to speak of. ...I've gone back to the FS in SF, where I've been sort of happy, but the new lobby bar is now a carbonated gay hook up spot, making it awkward for guests. The piano player has been replaced by a muzak version of hip hop.
Opposite end of this spectrum is the Pen LA. This is really a remarkable hotel. I've gotten multiple upgrades on every stay. The checkin/out anytime policy still shocks me. Every employee at this hotel acts as if they actually care.
