I seem to recall seeing a mention last year of a Shangri-La hotel being planned for Seoul. A recent check on the Shangri-La website shows no indication of upcoming new hotels.

Does anyone have news on Shangri-La's expansion plans, and how they might have been affected by the Asian economy's situation?

All I could find was this paragraph in a recent press release:

Although Asia remains the group's focus for its expansion plans, Shangri-La is keen to have a presence in the key gateway cities of Europe and North America. The group is primarily looking at London, Paris, Berlin, New York and Los Angeles or San Francisco to take full advantage of its strong brand name and existing loyal Asian clientele. Within Asia Pacific, Tokyo, Seoul and Sydney remain priorities.

Strange that they gave up Vancouver then a few years ago.
