But in this example, could Comair, as a South African airline, damp lease the aircraft and do a BA op by Comair flight somewhere using their own cabin crews? Flight crew might need to be BA but that would be a little easier than arranging to rotate a set of flight and cabin crew from LON.

If MN were to use the aircraft to another BA gateway, i.e. NBO or LOS, the BA flight crew could slip at either end.

Increased aircraft utilisation and increased network reach. Whether it would be profitable is another matter...
