Glad AirNZ was on form for your PER-AKL. I'm intrigued by your comments on the seat: I totally understand the irritation at not being able to look out the window, but I'm surprised by your comments about lack of privacy or sticking your legs out into the aisle. I'm 6'3" and don't think I'm able to stick my feet beyond the confines of the ottoman, and I find the seat extremely private in bed mode (admittedly in seat mode on the 772 it feels slightly more exposed - but not a lot). I also find there's plenty of space to put things, though it's not so much neat compartments as just extra flat space.

By comparison, flying recently on both UA's flat bed seats plus LO's seat (shared with TK and various Chinese airlines) I was struck by how incredibly little storage there was compared to NZ. However, each to their own.

What I'd really like to try are the reverse herringbone style, a la CX, US, AA 77w, new AF etc...
