And yeah some children wont fly CI and maybe flew Malaysia instead. You can't predict what will happen to you from past past history. The safest airlines could easily lose their status through a major incident.

Before they switched to 744 on TPE-NYC route.
That route was served by A343 with stop in ANC. They took off from Taxi way and nearly crashed into ocean.
Offering more benefit and cheaper fare is definitely attractive. But only if you live to use the benefit.
Silly? May be to you. Majority of companies that I worked for in Silicon valley actually do ban use of China Airlines due to safety reason.
