Is it possible to do LHR-DME-HKG using transit without visa in DME?

LHR-DME in BA, DME-HKG in CX, in an award ticket?

I am confused by the transit visa requirements for DME, especially when inbound and outbound are not russian airlines.

Can anyone advise?
