It was brought to my attention that there was some question on whether this sweeps should be posted in contest/sweeps because it took you to a blog. The thread was temporarily masked while one of the senior mods & I discussed it and has now been unmasked.

Before the sweeps was posted, willsterstyle PM'd me to ask if it was ok to post. I told him if the prize was the mini-fridge only then the answer would be no, but because of the 5,000 IHG points it could be posted so he created the thread.

From the FAQ of this forum:

"What type of contest/sweeps can be posted in this forum?

Sweeps that give away free miles, hotel points, car rentals, and other travel-related prizes such as trips, cruises, travel vouchers/travel gift cards, lodging packages, and travel guides can be posted in this forum.

Entry methods can be online, postal mail, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, toll-free calls and text messaging.

What types of contest/sweeps are not allowed in this forum?

Contest/sweeps that do not have free miles or travel-related prizes are not allowed to be posted in this forum. Examples include, but are not limited to, cash only prizes, cars, sports equipment, concert tickets (without a trip attached), electronics, and non-travel gift cards. Non-travel sweeps will be deleted by the moderators. Facebook sweeps asking for votes is not appropriate for this forum & will be deleted.

Can blog contests/sweepstakes be posted?

If a blog contest/sweepstakes offers a significant travel-related prize (i.e., airline or hotel gift card, airline miles/hotel points; not amenity kits, drink chits, etc), it can be posted. If the prize is not travel-related (i.e., generic gift card, debit card, free subscription to the blogger’s site, coffee mug, etc) & the sweeps being posted is intended to only drive traffic to the blogger’s site, it is not allowed and will be deleted by the moderators."

There was a question by the mod whether 5K was enough points, as probably by itself it couldn't be redeemed for a free night. My reply was that while 5K points alone won't get you a free night it can help get you to one. Years ago there was a sweeps in the contest/sweeps forum where one of the prizes (not grand prize) was 5K Hyatt points. I won that and was just shy of the points needed for my Tokyo trip where I was meeting FTers. That 5K meant I had enough to top off my account/redeem for my 3-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo.

If you google 5,000 IHG points & mini-fridge, you'll see that this sweeps has been picked up/posted on many websites/BBs, not just FT.

Since willsterstyle has been a FT member for a while (with granted not a ton of posts), his posts are in different forums, not related to sweeps or blogs (w/ the exception of this & a separate sweeps listed in the IHG forum that someone else started), he asked before creating the thread, there is a travel element (5K points) plus the info is available via other websites, it was decided to re-instate the thread.

If you're interested in the sweeps you can enter via the link above or any of the links found via google. If you're not interested in the sweeps or don't want to add clicks to his blog, there are plenty of other sweeps in the forum to enter. Good luck!

BTW - In June AussieOzzie posted an IHG Summer Reel sweeps w/ a trip to Hollywood prize which is open until September. If you're interested in that, info is in this FT thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/free-...-colombia.html

If you're a Canadian resident (and presumably of other countries), if you win one of the smaller instant prizes in AussieOzzie's link it will be awarded as IHG points, not movie tickets or popcorn. willsterstyle & a couple of others figured that out in the thread that exists in the IHG forum.

Cheers.
