Hello all,
I was hoping that some of the wise vets here could possibly help me with planning out a wine tour to Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Sorry if this should have been put into the specific San Fran section. Mods feels free to move it if that's the case.
So I'm looking to do a trip to Napa/Sonoma this fall (or perhaps winter) to do a wine tour. Everytime I've been into a wine region in the past (Burgundy & Tuscany), I've never been able to make it work out and now I want to finally do a proper wine tour.
Since I'm on a budget and am more into wine tours as opposed to wine tasting, I was just hoping to get some general feedback from others. From what I've been able to see/find airbnb is most likely the way to go for something cheap. When it comes to accommodations, so long as it's clean and safe, and there is wifi, that's all that matters to me. However, if I did have to spring for a hotel, is Sonoma less than Napa? And is it fairly easy to travel b/w the 2?
While I'm sure renting a car would be a bit cheaper than taking a tour, the problem with that is that I can't have much wine. While I don't expect this to turn out like a pub crawl, I would like to be able to enjoy wine w/o having to worry about potentially killing someone. Drunk driving is not cool.
I apologize if this should have been put into the budget section of travel, but thought more people would see this here if I put it in here.
I forgot to add that I would also like to check out the redwoods for an afternoon or so which I understand are closer to Sonoma Valley.
As for time in San Fran, from what I can see online on the tourism site, it seems like a day would be enough for me. I'm mainly going out to see the vineyards.
Thanks in advance!
