Yes, but I'm sure if there was enough demand from the USA, there would be nonstops. There isn't. That's certainly a factor in keeping a station open, demand to a station. I don't think there's a bunch of demand to BKK.
Consider that EK flies A380s DXB-LAX- a longer distance than BKK. TG has A380s as well. What do they fly on BKK-ICN-LAX? A 77W, not an A380. Where do they fly their 380s longhaul? FRA and Europe...
UA doesn't fly HKG-DEL any more either, do they? It's just pretty simple; both UA and DL are going to more of a USA->destination longhaul model, as opposed to a USA-NRT->(destination using fifth freedom) model. I would imagine we will see
both airlines wind down their NRT-based flying over the next decade. DL just has a reason to keep BKK around for a while longer...
