Same here. I was able to watch movies all the way to touchdown on a few flights last week, even after the wifi shut off. What I didn't test was trying to connect below 10,000 feet. I probably should have, but I rationalized that you had to be connected to Gogo, and it's only on after 10,000... Has anyone tried connecting on the ground/just after takeoff? Because to me, the two big drawbacks to DL Studio are: if a passenger doesn't have a device/battery dies/need to use device to work on plane/need to save battery to use after landing; or, if you have to wait until 10,000 feet, you can't watch until then. The reason I was watching until the thrust reverses kicked in was because on a flight of about 2hr 20 min, by the time you get up and connect and the Gogo player initializes and you watch a two hour movie, you're cutting it close. Even though the PTVs are small, at least you can watch as soon as the system resets after the safety video.
Another thing I noticed was if you paused a movie and left it idle (at least on a tablet), the screen powers off, and upon waking it, it had to load or buffer for a moment, and then th movie popped back up. That happened to me while packing up my carryon on approach, but since we were still a bit above 10K, it was still on wifi. Anybody know if it will still reload after you're below 10K? I just assumed I was still able to watch all the way to the ground because it had buffered the rest of the movie while still connected to wifi.
