the airline is not defend-able against this practice & ideally it should not happen....but this is something that is out of your control....airlines sometime reschedule....they have done so before & will continue to do so....in such a situation the airline should put you on another one of their flights to get you to your final destination, without charging anything extra....if that did not happen then did you take it up with the airline after your journey????if you did then what did they say????
I would agree. If you miss a flight due to reasons cited by OP, airlines usually put you in the next available flight without any extra charge.
It happened to me once on Jet, I missed the flight since it was moved ahead of the schedule time. Even though I had prior information, I could not reach the airport in time but Jet gave me the next morning flight (my original flight was last in the day). This happened 3 years ago, but I believe such policies do not change..
Did they give you a hotel option for the night? My close friend got a stay at ITC (5 years ago though) once because of flight cancellation by SQ. Never heard any Indian airline do that. Not sure if SQ also does the same.
