I live in SF - don't need to stay near beach in CA. I would trade a Park Hyatt for an airbnb any day.
Between the 2 of us we got 4 free nights and we stayed 3 nights in Sydney (value over $2400) and the fourth free night was in Zurich Park Hyatt (over $800). Annual free night always worth way more than an AF.
Works for us as we travel a lot.
Different strokes for different folks and as always, YMMV

Same argument for us regarding to those sought after South Beach redemption. lol.
Personally we do not really care how much those expensive properties retail bookings might cost, knowing fully that 1) we could if we want to, get corporate rates at HUGE discount on the SAME room. 2) we normally dont pay such out of pocket cash. 3) Some of the properties, including the Park Hyatt Vendome, is NOT that nice...
Though the high price tags certainly stroke some egos when using the retail value as yard stick. Fully understandable.
What I REALLY MISS is the golden days when Hyatt at the FFN promotions for several years. We used them in Park Hyatt Sydney, Park Hyatt Tokyo, Grand Hyatt Tokyo (nicer than Park in several ways), plus some other international properties, as well as virtually 90% of the Hyatt resorts in US. The one in Hunting Beach CA and the one in Bonita Spring FL are particularly nice. We even got a suite in Huntington Beach on one stay in Dec. That was a nice touch. But the club at Bonita Spring is one of the nicest in the system, probably only second to the one in Kauai. Those were the much nicer days. Sigh.
