My stay and experience at the Regent Berlin

Introduction This year I am really trying to get atleast 1 stay at some of the very top hotels in the city that I am visiting. The Regent Berlin was on top of my list and after reading reviews and the overall excitement of the guests I knew I had to book a room at the Regent if only for 1 night. Check In The check-in was a bit more personal but that is because they also had a Dutch staff member working at the reception so that always makes the whole thing a bit more fun as you chitchat away about life in The Netherlands.I took a taxi from the Hyatt to the Regent hotel and the moment I arrived the staff came out and assisted me and took my luggage. A complete different experience than my arrival at the Hyatt. Service I want to mention that the concierge working that day was superb. He really went out of his way to help me get all the information that I needed to make my limited time a success. (Even if in the end I was unable to see what I wanted to see but that was beyond the hotels control!)The staff at the Regent all come with a: Yes we can do that, no problem attitude. For me I could feel that they had been trained to (German) perfection to anticipate your needs. I sat down for a coffee in the afternoon and just let the staff take care of me. Room So as I walked into my room my first impression was: Woah, very different.. but I like it. Very classical but with the right luxury touches to still make you feel that you are in 2014. Allmost like a time travel but your Iphone stays connected to the 4G. Overall I think that you either love it or you don’t. There is not much room for anything in between but I for one would choose this room again in a heartbeat!I knew up front that the Regent Berlin would be a very different experience. Not because of the fact that they seeminly win awards all the time for their great service and overall product but more that the style of the hotel is not something I would normally go for as the hotel is all about taking classical luxury (Biedermaier style) to a next level. I really feel it is: go big or go home! Overall As mentioned before up font it was not really the type of hotel I would normally go for but after having stayed here I would so love to return! The hotel gave me the feeling of walking back into time yet keeping all 2014 elements that make a modern day hotel! I had a great stay, great staff, great breakfast.. see you next time!
The no photo sign and no cellphone sign

Overall prices for drinks like coffee or tea felt quite high as compared to other hotels even in the 5 star and luxury segment.
Things I did not like
The service provided by the concierge

The breakfast experience

The overall arrival experience (much better than at the Hyatt)

Look and feel of the hotel
Things I loved Dining The breakfast is served in an a la carte setting (something I love) and the mixture of great quality product and exxcelent service makes for an overall extremely pleasant breakfast experience. The Regent Berlin has a 2 michelin stars restaurant called Fischers Fritz. The restaurant allready has these 2 stars for 7 years in a row. So I think I dont need to mention that if you are looking to eat at the highest of high level in Berlin… this would be the place to go for lunch or dinner. The prices on the menu where a bit over what I was willing to pay for a meal as I was looking to eat simpel real German food. (You know, the sauerkraut and bratwurst style dinner) But what is great is that breakfast was also served at the restaurant so I was able to atleast get a feel for the atmosphere and overall look and feel of the restaurant. Location I felt that the location of the Regent was very close to the shopping streets, public transport, museums and such of the city. I spend only about half a day on that day walking through the city and for me it was very easy to navigate the streets of Berlin and then to be able to find my way back to the hotel. I did not prepare at all when it came to sightseeing and things like that so being in a central location like this helped me with the limited time that I had.
