I was doing pretty boring, rote work. My manager spoke to another manager who needed manpower. Suggested me since I expressed interest in travel and doing more than just IT support. Been doing it since May and I love it. Doesn't hurt that apparently business travel isn't actually seen as great by most folks, so those of us who do it are often praised for it. It's hard to say "yeah, it's tough but I make it work" when 99% of the time it really ain't that bad. Although I don't have kids or a girlfriend or anything so that helps.
Apart from things like getting to see new towns, work with new people, and not sit at the same drab cube all week, it's nice racking up points and miles. I figure I'll have enough for a great European or South American vacation by the end of next year... in at least B or F. I figure most of my travel right now is work, and in coach, but that's not too bad given the length of my flights and the fact that the company pays for part of economy plus.
Now I want even more travel. I'm seeing a lot of small town America but I want to see some bigger cities. Better mileage on those flights too. I also heard rumors we're looking at expanding internationally... I would not mind spearheading those efforts.
