Unusual combination of circumstances. I suppose by the time OP assessed the WT+ arrangement and decided it was less suited to his taste than his WT seat, it was too late to go back and reclaim 26A. Fortunately a further upgrade to CW came to the rescue. The sub-optimal catering was not impressive but personally I'd see that as a negligible price to pay for a double upgrade. The hard product - space, comfort - is what we pay for, whereas airline food is never great, just something to pass the time and stave off hunger. Taking all the aspects into account I'd say the outcome was very favourable for the OP but he is entitled to a refund of his seat selection fee because that service wasn't delivered.
