Wouldn't you have been a little disappointed if you then saw the other passenger being taken to the CW cabin?
If it had been me, I would have counted myself very lucky to have scored a WT --> CW upgrade like this. I can't imagine how I could get upset with these small catering glitches, obviously caused by the cabin crew unsuccessfully trying to improvise around the situation. Taking an unwanted tray back to the galley when I've finished with it? I do that all the time.
