I agree with most of what everyone else is saying regarding not taking a risk on a short connection just prior to the over-water flight.

But seeing as how the DTW-FRA flight leaves at 5:35, aren't there sufficient rebooking options leaving from DTW later in the evening, e.g. DTW>AMS>FRA, DTW>CDG>FRA?
