I have never seen any US official agents (wearing uniforms) at CDG. I'm not saying you're wrong but I took so many flights ex-CDG to the US on AF, DL, UA, CO (at the time they were independent), that I think I could have sampled them at least a few times.
Those Securitas staff are just contracted by some airlines to ask you their so-called security questions (did you pack yourself, has your bag be out of sight since you packed, etc), to give you the custom forms at boarding and to do the additional random search at the gate. [/QUOTE]
The securitas people confirmed that there are DHS / CPB people.
they're dressed with a suit & tie so it's easy to miss them
I may be wrong but believe there are DHS / CPB people in numerous airports around the world (the one without preclearance)
With AA you can not OLCI without ESTA and I did loose a few hairs with that.
Seems that AF is different
