Regarding the part of what the ticket agent said, I was on UA metal once on a domestic flight and on checking in my 1 bag (over 50 lbs but less than 70), the computer was charging me for the bag and the overweight. I am 1K so this should be free.

I told the agent and she was awesome! Never once said that whatever the computer said was the rule. She immediately realized something was wrong and worked for about 10 minutes to fix it so that the fees disappeared.
