I believe it's an agreement between all partners in oneworld, that they will cross-protect bookings made between themselves and other members, even on unconnected tickets.

To my knowledge, none of the other partners state publicly they will uphold the arrangement.

The arrangement is not public and we do not know exactly what the terms of it are.
