LCY flights often have printed menus (although not always consistently). The caterer and meal is also typically much better which it should be given the CE seating to and from LCY is exactly the same as Y. There is no 3 prawn salad or other pathetic token meals on the shorter CE flights from LCY.
CE is often relatively empty on the city flyer services to there can be much more effective personal space too.
I regularly use the Granada service in CE from LCY and it's almost always empty, which is such luxury. Usually a minimum of 4 rows to yourself. Once there were 8 rows for 3 of us! The service is always good on the E190 and you feel like you're in a private jet!
I would agree that CE from LHR is a bit patchy, and the same from LGW.
I've always had consistently better from LCY. A recent breakfast fly to AMS was particularly good.
The worst CE service was to LPA from LHR. It only runs weekly over the winter sun period, there were 44 of us in CE, and the outbound crew clearly didn't want to be on that plane that morning! The return flight was very good though.
