So, apart from the crew, does anyone know why there is such a difference in the basic service from LCY and LHR? Or was this a one off? I am sure this question has probably been asked before, but couldn't find the thread.
Where were you flying to?
I've only ever received a printed menu on Band 4s, which LCY does not have.
I would agree with
orbitmic that crew quality: LCY>LHR>LGW. I don't know why this is the case. I've only ever taken domestics to and from LCY but each time the service has been sparkling. Now they have the Embraers (98-seat 190 the best S/H aircraft around by miles IMO) I am prepared to pay a small premium to fly into LCY if my schedule allows it. I can often find £37 Scottish flights from LGW but the crews there are very variable.
