Bus tickets and train tickets are fixed in price, but airfares are all over the place. I had a friend who worked for Delta Airlines in reservations; he told me that it is possible that every person on the plane had paid a different fare. This is impossible for my mind to understand. I know there are geniuses in the back rooms of airlines figuring out revenue management, but, IMHO, it is still crazy.
