When the chap next to me asked crew for a pen to complete his immigration form, he was American, he was rudely refused. So, apart from the crew, does anyone know why there is such a difference in the basic service from LCY and LHR? Or was this a one off? I am sure this question has probably been asked before, but couldn't find the thread.
No unfortunately it's not a one-off. BA is famous for inconsistent crews. Most are good, some are excellent, and a not insignificant number are awful. I don't fly nearly as much as I once did so can't offer up to date percentages. My only First this year was unbelievably bad, with only 4 of us to attend to. Crew offhand from the CSD downwards, wife & I both got the wrong starter, then she also got the wrong main. By the time the correct meals arrived we did not have time to finish the mains before " landing in 20 minutes", so no dessert, cheese, coffee. Leaving the aircraft I had to wait in the aisle while a crew member packed his bag to leave first, totally ignored my presence. As a result, to avoid disappointment all of my short hauls since Jan have been in ET ( CE only for a decade). And lo, all of them have had top crews ( well, just the one offhand/rude member). So I'm happier, and richer, already booking for next year in ET, flights up to 4 hours. Can't quite bring myself to dump CW to Mexico & India though. First, never again. Welcome to the fun of the BA lottery.
