I think the latter restriction is more annoying (overbearing) than the former - is there a real flight security risk to using battery chargers in flight? Why not ban all electronic devices altogether?

My Sanyo 5400 mah 3.75v battery charger is 20wh
Variations of this restriction have been in place for a while. There is little point in discussion; just charge your device out of site (same deal applies to playing games on your phone).
