AA Amex award flight with US Airways Silver Preferred
Hey All. This may be an obvious question, but I'm somewhat new to airline status, albeit only Silver Preferred.
I booked an international longhaul trip using US Airways points, but I could not find suitable departures from my local airport in Boston. I end up opting to take the first leg out of JFK, where I would find my own way from BOS to JFK. Found one way flights online as cheap as $80, but opted to use Amex points for a free award flight on AA. I'm a Silver Preferred US Airways member. Considering this is both an Amex points flight and AA, not US Airways, will I still get my Silver Preferred perks? I'm most concerned with AA upgraded check in and security lines because my connections to international will require a terminal change after landing in JFK. I think 8/9 to 7 for Cathay. I think I'm entitled to those perks now that the merger went through, but I don't know how the Amex award ticket plays into how AA sees my status. If I'm still entitied to those perks, do I have to do anything aside from putting my AA FF number on the reservation? I'm assuming my AA FF# is tied to my US Airways FF#.
Going Cathay Pacific First on the longhaul for the first time. Can't wait!
