I never saw an offer advertised and east coast AUS and NZ fares in J/F have not been includeed in the 'Special Fares' ex UK for some time - that's why I started the thread.
To rub salt into any wounds - although EK charge UK customers in £ the refund is made in $. Because of the recent change in exchange rate (and possibly the exchange rate EK use) I actually received back more than I paid - even after the EK penalty and Amex foreign exchange charge.
