LondonElite, While YYZ-DEL nonstop route may take time to develop it has a strong market potential. DEL flt is convenient for immigrants from the Punjab area of India and there are quite a few in Canada (a good section accessible through YYZ). The problem is tha a good part of this market is price sensitive and the yields will be quite low.
There are quite a few others interested in YYZ-BLR, YYZ-MAA, YYZ-BOM, YYZ-HYD, etc. Given this group, a non-stop YYZ-DEL enables domestic connection in India much better. DEL and BOM are already hub cities in India for all major domestic carriers so the final destination becomes a one-stop flt.
In short, I think because of the non-stop connection from North Amercia YYZ-DEL can become quite attractive. I am not sure if it will drastically cut into AC's YYZ-LHR route but it will impact the North America-India travel corridor and this will have a minor impact on YYZ-LHR.
