Is there a typical "rush hour" driving from Kamakura back into Tokyo that would be best avoided? Keep in mind that we would be visiting on a Tuesday, so I imagine that the town of Kamakura itself would be much quieter, less crowded and thus, easier to find parking.
I would be more than happy to take the bus and forgo the rental car, but in the grand scheme of things, having to get from town to town, train to bus, back to train... would you still consider it more *convenient* than just simply getting behind the wheel of a rental?
Based on the bullet point list of sights that I posted above, would public transit be easily serviced to all of these spots?
Why don't you talk to a hotel concierge and see if there's a driver available to meet you in a convenient place - pick you up - take you where you want to go for the day - and deposit you in Tokyo?
I think the only thing I can claim credit for here in this forum is discovering Mr. Doi's services in and around Kyoto and reporting back. But he can't be the only guide like this in Japan - it's a big country with a lot of people! Robyn
