Well,
(SPECIFIC CURSE WORD) that. I called
Era Ravn mere moments after the METAR observation showing 800-foot ceilings was posted. Unfortunately, they'd already decided to cancel the flight...and since it was already canceled out of their system, they couldn't reinstate it (even though the plane, pilot, and everything is just sitting right at the airport waiting to go).
Hoping the weather holds for the afternoon flight. Also,
Era Ravn said they can't mess with our ticket because it was issued by AS. AS won't mess with the ticket because
Era Ravn has control, and AS doesn't partner with Hageland dba
Era Ravn anymore (they only issue awards on
Era Ravn Alaska's mainline routes now), so they can't sell space on alternate Hageland dba
Era Ravn flights. By that logic, we're probably stuck on this island permanently. And at $200/night for the only lodge in town...yikes.
Going to random Alaskan rocks is like living on the edge. Sometimes you careen off the cliff...
