I'm in the camp that I pay for F / have elite status to have flexibility (like whh I board) and to avoid lines (there's an empty priority line when I show up 10 minutes in). I guess US doesn't share that view.
In general, yes they do. Most of the time there is a priority line and as you demonstrated, you are free to show up when you want (within the established time parameters). Nowhere do they say that whenever you show up there will be overhead bin space. Not sure any airline does that, do they?
