Although I live in Thailand I travel to YUL once a year, next month UTH-BKK-AUH-BRU-ZRH-YUL, I will stay around BRU for two weeks before heading to YUL.
All I can say is that YUL immigration police is the least "user friendly" of the bunch. Last year arriving YUL was unlucky with line. First you stay in a huge Z-line, after some 15 minutes queuing you get directed to one of the 4 or 5 open counters out of 25 unmanned counters.
Whilst all counters next to mine had people getting through each minute "my" desk took 5 minutes by arriving person. When at last my turn came I indeed was asked stupid questions for 5 minutes. To my "amusement" I carried 24 bottles of Belgian beers and several kilos of chocolates, nothing forbidden, so he had to let me trough.

I don't care much really, YUL immigration is just a pain in the a*, just plan 1 hour from landing to meeting my friends waiting patiently at customs exit.

Landing BRU or BKK takes me usually 15 to leave the airport, I have fast track arriving BKK, that might help.
