Airport operations in SFO at that hour are lean and often there were no cabs to be found.
I am not sure if BART runs 24/7, but in general SFO mass transit options at that time of the morning have got to be bleak.

It is kind of the same difference. People generally like to maximize their vacation time away from home be it Vegas or Anywhere. I spent many a trip schlepping the kids west-east to visit the grandparents, and even a few extra hours at our destination would have been
*golden* no matter the travel inconvenience.
In Korean for example they get much less vacation time when compared to most of the industrialized world, so an overnight scheduled redeye back to ICN (and then heading straight to work) is highly preferred.

He got sacked not too long after and I always thought his extreme lack of focus on Mondays played a prominent role in that termination.
I donno about the EU but in the USA at least physically showing up at work checks the box ^ and unless you are operating heavy equipment being in a fog
once or twice a year after a long holiday weekend is situation normal. Think Superbowl Monday people...

Considering the price premium that airlines charge over the Thanksgiving weekend these should be very profitable flights.
