Interesting data point on downgrading. I Upgraded my HH Amex to Surpass about 2 years ago. I met the spend , got the points and a rep called me asking how I liked the card. I said I wasn't getting much value out of it and she offered to downgrade me and refund my AF that I had never been billed for so I went back to my NAF Amex and got a $75 credit.
