I'm actually hoping to get a reservation at 7chome Kyoboshi for tempura omakase. They supposedly open their calendars for November on Sept 1st, so our concierge is working on it. I had debated for the past month whether spending that much money on a tempura meal was "worth it" and had gone back and forth between that and Tempura Kondo, but after scoping out all the photos online and reading reviews on various blogs, I've decided to go for it! I usually don't consider tempura a "fancy" experience but 7chome seems to refine and elevate it beyond any other tempura restaurant in the world, so I'm satiating my curiosity as much as my palette with this booking... once spending $$$$ why not opt for the best, if you can afford it!

The ingredients looked more interesting to me than Kondo, and from the many photos we've oggled, my wife prefers the ambiance, haha. Whether the exorbitant cost is worth it will be determined. Unless we're travelling on an expense account, it's definitely a one-time experience and not likely to become a Tokyo fixture. I just want to know what the best tempura in the world tastes like.
